In Kampala – for business and rest

Saturday October 26 I left Adi to go to Arua via Aru. It was a good trip and I arrived without problems. Sunday was the long bus trip to Kampala. This time it almost took 8 and a half hours. However, I saw one elephant near the bridge at Pakwach (sorry, no photo) and baboons near Karuma. Difficult to photograph from a driving bus.

The Sunday night I had a good evening, checking emails with a quicker internet speed and a good night’s rest. Monday started in a relaxed way but then I remembered the possibility to apply for funding for the AIDS Program. It was on a site where I tried to answer questions but could not make progress as the page where I entered the address information was not changed after filling it in. Grrr. However, the deadline was…Monday 28 October. So I dared to give it another try and it worked. With all the questions to answer and the thinking it took, the whole task took until around midnight. But…the application is sent and now I am waiting.

Also on Monday (in the morning) I prepared my application form for another multiple entry visa for Uganda and Lydia, one of the office admistrators, could take it to the immigration office in Kampala. My interpol letter was still valid that day and immigration accepted it.

Yesterday was a day of rest and relaxation. I read one book and started another (an Agatha Christie which I finished this morning), had a chat with a friend who came to visit people at the office and came by at the Inn. And I participated in the afternoon celebration with chocolate cake of the birthday of one of the short-term coordinators. Overall a very quiet restfull day, that really continues today as well. In a very nice room and on the veranda (where I sit at this moment).
